Advances in the Restoration and Fixation of Lateral Femoral Wall Fracture

نویسندگان

چکیده

Hip fractures, especially intertrochanteric are more common with aging. After decades of progress, it is a general consensus to carry out internal fixation for this group patients. However, the recent focus on unstable fractures ensure better prognosis and prevent failure. The lateral femoral wall, as novel concept, often disregarded. Many scholars have recognized that wall proximal plays crucial role in stability fractures. In paper, historical evolution, definition, clinical significance, injury classification, choice fixation, possible fracture reviewed order provide clinicians strong evidence treatment strategies.

Stress Fracture of the Lateral Femoral Condyle afterTotal Knee Arthroplasty

Background: This is to assess one of the rare complications after total knee replacement and to assess risk factors of failure. Methods: 11 patients with varus knee and an average age of 67 years underwent TKA between 2005 and 2013. All patients returned with a sudden sharp knee pain, disability to walk and significant decrease in ROM about 4 to 8 weeks after surgery. Radiographic examination re...

Lateral femoral wall thickness. A reliable predictor of post-operative lateral wall fracture in intertrochanteric fractures.

Although the importance of lateral femoral wall integrity is increasingly being recognised in the treatment of intertrochanteric fracture, little attention has been put on the development of a secondary post-operative fracture of the lateral wall. Patients with post-operative fractures of the lateral wall were reported to have high rates of re-operation and complication. To date, no predictors ...

Implantless Fixation of a Large Osteocartilaginous Fracture of the Lateral Femoral Condyle in a Child

We describe for the first time a case of lateral femoral condyle fracture following a fall in a 13-year-old child that was reduced arthroscopically using a probe. It was definitively fixed with 0 vicryl sutures in a cruciate pattern after being initially stabilised with 1.5-mm Kirschner wires. Four beath pins carrying sutures were drilled at four opposing quadrants through the reduced fragment ...

Arthroscopically-assisted reduction and fixation of an old osteochondral fracture of the lateral femoral condyle

BACKGROUND Osteochondral fracture (OCF) of the lateral femoral condyle has a low incidence and old OCF is even more rarely seen; it is difficult to differentiate from late osteochondritis dissecans (OCD). CASE REPORT In this report, we present the case of a 20-year-old male patient with an old OCF of the lateral femoral condyle. The possible etiology of OCF is discussed, along with its clinic...

Optimizing Stability in Femoral Neck Fracture Fixation.

Optimizing stability of femoral neck fracture fixation is important in obtaining a successful outcome. The mechanical problems and strategies for achieving optimal stability differ depending on patients' age and degree of osteoporosis. Femoral neck fractures in younger adults usually result from high-energy trauma and have a vertical fracture pattern. Strategies for optimizing fixation stabilit...
